People are constantly working to make real improvements in the world. New waves of communication and better technology have lead to increased life spans and seemingly better lives.

While there are many positives when it comes to modern life, the downside is that sometimes people try to cram too many things into one day. In this fast paced world, stress may get the better of you and you might have trouble looking on the bright side.

Scheduling Downtime

You may feel like you should always be doing something productive. However, taking care of yourself is ultimately the most productive thing you can do. When you’ve given yourself proper rest and permission to do whatever you want once in awhile, you’ll be better able to focus great efforts on the other things in your life that matter.

People that schedule downtime for themselves clearly have lower stress levels. Allow yourself a proper amount of time for rest. Get 6-8 hours of sleep at night and avoid the temptation to stay up doing something else with that time.

You should also allow yourself a portion of the day where you get to do whatever you want. Even when time is short, let yourself enjoy a few minutes of total relaxation sometime during the day to rejuvenate.

Scheduling proper downtime also gives you time for reflection. When you reflect on your life, you can concentrate on the meaning of it all. You’ll be more likely to truly enjoy your journey. It’s so easy to let life pass you by if you don’t take some time to reflect.

Concentrating On Attitude

Thinking positively is something you can choose to do regardless of your circumstances in life. Everyone struggles with it from time to time, and you owe it to yourself to focus on having a positive attitude.

A positive attitude is the foundation for a good life. Your outlook will allow you to enjoy all the craziness and will equip you to deal with the stressful parts. When negative thinking creeps up, just think about the things that are going right. You can also visualize how it’ll feel when things turn around for the better.

Keeping Up

In a fast paced life, you can definitely take certain steps to slow your life down, but you can also work on being able to keep up!

Make a list of the areas where you’re having trouble balancing. Brainstorm actions that you can take to improve your ability to cope.

For example, if you struggle to complete your tasks at work, see what you can do to fix this challenge. Maybe you can do one of your projects more efficiently. Perhaps you can rearrange your schedule to take care of the more stressful tasks first, leaving the least stressful for the end of the day when you’re ready to unwind.

Dealing with Stress

Stress in your day-to-day life is nearly unavoidable. However, it’s how you deal with the stress that counts. It’s important for you to not let it build up, or it could lead to greater issues in the long run.

Do what you can to relieve your stress in a healthy way. Work on relaxation and breathing techniques. If you’re more socially inclined, venting to a close friend can help you deal with stress. As long as you’re doing something to relieve your stress, you’ll be able to jump back into your faced paced life with a positive attitude.

Just because the world we live in is hectic, it doesn’t mean that your life needs to be that way also. When you use these tips, you’ll find it a lot easier to remain positive and enjoy a stress-free life.

Having a prosperity mindset is a key factor in reaching your financial goals. It keeps you on track toward your goals regardless of any challenges you encounter along the way.

These strategies below will help you foster a prosperity mindset that can enable you to live the life you desire.

Keep Your Focus

If you find that your mind wanders from idea to idea, create one set plan and stick to it. In your plan, create a list of specific achievable action steps that lead to your goal, and then work on at least one task each day to help maintain your focus.

Plan for Success

It doesn’t matter how focused you are if you don’t have a proper plan. Your financial goals aren’t going to happen just by deciding on a number. Make some clear plans on how you’re going to get there. This will get you past the dream phase so you can start making your ultimate goals a reality.

Be as detailed in your plan as possible and set each task as a mini-goal in itself. Achieving these small goals on a daily basis keeps you motivated and moving along toward your big goal.

Model Yourself After Successful People

One of the best decisions you can make is to use other successful people as your role models. Think about what you admire about these people and then try to model their behavior.

See if you can set up an interview with someone you feel is successful. You may wish to find someone in a similar career so you can study his or her success story.

You’ll also want to study the reasons why they’ve become successful. How do you think they got to where they are? Can you embark on these steps too? Chances are that you can; all you need to do is build up the courage.

Believe In Yourself

Unfortunately too many people don’t have confidence in their abilities and they fail to try or give up far too quickly. You don’t have to be one of these people!

Look back at the people you admire and you’ll likely notice that they felt like giving up at some point. But they didn’t! They likely have an unwavering belief in their abilities and a drive to succeed, no matter what.

You, too, can reach your financial goals! Believe that it is possible! People have proven that it’s possible, and you can achieve anything that’s possible.

Pay It Forward

Along your journey to success, you can practice good karma by paying it forward. Spread your knowledge so that others can learn the lessons you’ve learned. You can serve as a mentor to others just like you were mentored when you were starting out.

When you’re kind to others, that kindness will find its way right back to you. You never know what good can come out of some simple kindness.

It may take some time and effort to develop your prosperity mindset, but the rewards are well worth it. Once you’ve mastered it, it will be with you for the rest of your life, guiding you to achieve any financial goals you desire.

Regardless of what you do for a living, its always nice to make a bit more money. Maybe you need to save up for something special, pay off a loan or credit card bill, or have a little nest egg should something unexpected happen.

The most well known way to make a bit of extra money has always been to find a second job, something like evening bar work or helping out in a local store.

Now, thanks to the internet, it’s gotten even easier to bring in some extra cash without working yourself too hard.

Here are five ideas you can use to make some extra money:

1. Sell stuff you don’t use or need anymore. Do you have books, records, CD’s or DVD’s you’ll never use again collecting dust on your bookcase? Is your wardrobe full of clothes that you never wear? Do you have old electronics taking up too much space? – why not sell them!

Have a car boot sale.

Sell stuff on eBay – people will buy the strangest things on eBay. In particular, if you’ve got some sort of fairly unique electronic equipment, try selling it on eBay. Chances are good that someone will want it and maybe willing to pay a premium for it.

Sell your things to used bookstores, second hand clothes shops, used furniture stores, or even as spare parts at a repair shop.

2. Ask your employer for a raise. I know asking for more money can be difficult, especially during a financial recession, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try.

Put together a list of the things you’ve successfully accomplished in the last nine months and make a case for why your worth a raise.

Alternatively you may be able to make more money simply by asking for some overtime – ask your boss if there’s any extra work you can do or whether there are any extra responsibilities you can take on.

3. Do a bit of Freelancing. Are you a skilled writer, programmer or graphic designer? There are loads of websites where you can apply your expertise to earn some extra cash.

If you’re not sure how to find something take 10 minutes to do an Internet search. There are many resources on the web that can help you find customers in need of your skills.

Alternatively, register on elance.com or odesk.com and start marketing your skills.

4. Find a job where you can work form home. There are many customer service jobs that you can take on with just an Internet connection and a computer. I’m told some of them can pay remarkably well and all of them have a very relaxed dress code!

5. Start your own business. Just start something as a part-time idea and transform one of your interests or skills into a second business. There’s nothing quite as exciting as turning something you love to do into a profitable business.

These income generating ideas should give you a great place to start, but to significantly boost your income you should really consider creating a business you can run from the comfort of home. Brainstorm some ideas, pick one and try it – you can make more money!

In life it’s always useful to take a look and see what you can improve upon. Your money management skills are always a great place to start and can have a great impact on your quality of life. Managing your finances can be a huge task and for some can become overwhelming. However, with clear goals and a simple system your money can be made to work well for you.

Here are 5 tips to bolster your money management skills:

Have a detailed tracking system. If you don’t already keep note of what you spend I promise you that this will make a significant difference. Try keeping note of everything you buy for at least a month. When you see everything you spend written out in front of you you will be able to see where you money is going and what’s necessary and what’s not. This can empower you to make the choice on how you can spend your money differently in future.

Learn to save. Tax-advantaged retirement plans and saving accounts are a great option for saving money for the future, but on another hand it’s also handy to have some money in a regular savings account for times in need. Regardless of you financial situation learning to save is a crucial habit to create.

Evaluate your needs and wants. If you’ve got no choice but to cut back, look at your monthly out-goings in detail. Write down a two-column list and divide your expenditure into needs and wants, then eliminate as many items from the “wants” category.

Don’t go Gung-Ho! - It’s important to be realistic when creating new money goals. You really shouldn’t do anything too drastic too quickly. I recommend you always take on changes in stages and ease yourself into new situations step by step.

Remember to Pay yourself. Don’t be too hard on yourself and get into a situation where you feel you can’t spend any money, you’ll likely get frustrated and you may revert back to old ways. Instead, pay yourself a monthly allowance. Allow yourself to spend $25 to $100 each month on the things you really enjoy. Atleast this way you can have some fun and save money at the same time.

You Can Choose When To Change

The trick to improving your money management skills really sits with your ability to change. Those that fail usually run into difficulty when they want to save money but are unwilling to make changes to their lifestyle.

Its useful to consider how you can make minor changes to your lifestyle without it being a burden. Start slow with small changes, this will allow you to replace old habits with new positive ones.

For example, why not start with your grocery bill. Have a look and see if there are certain foods that you can skip or get cheaper by shopping elsewhere.

Delay Gratification

If you have a weak spot for something expensive try and go 1 day or 1 week without it. The ability to delay gratification may be one of the most important skills you could ever learn. In fact if you researched people who were very good with their money and compared it with those who were not I would bet that the good money mangers all had a strong ability to delay gratification.

Long Term Goals

If you don’t decide what you want in the future then you’ll probably get what ever falls your way. If you make plans and set goals you’re much more likely to get what you want.

Ask yourself – Where do I want to be next year, in 5 years, and in 10 years? Write it down, and create a plan with your finances that will help you get there.

The important thing about goals is to keep them in mind, otherwise they’ll get forgotten!

Put them somewhere where you’ll read them everyday – stick them on the refrigerator, on your computer desktop or laminate them and put them in your wallet.

These strategies will help you improve your money management skills but you can get much more from our Recession Survival Pack – this all-in-one training pack will take you step by step through the best strategies, so you can get on and enjoy your life without the financial stress!
